例题7:推理判断题——作者态度

Section titled “例题7:推理判断题——作者态度”

题目: Read the following passage and answer the question.

“The rapid expansion of online education has sparked debate among educators. While some praise its accessibility and flexibility, others worry about the lack of face-to-face interaction and the digital divide. The truth likely lies somewhere in between — online education is a powerful tool, but it cannot completely replace the traditional classroom.”

What is the author’s attitude towards online education?

A. Entirely supportive B. Strongly opposed C. Balanced and objective D. Indifferent

解答:

步骤1:分析作者观点——作者既提到优点(accessibility and flexibility)也提到缺点(lack of interaction, digital divide)。

步骤2:关键句”The truth likely lies somewhere in between”表明作者采取平衡立场。

步骤3:最后一句”cannot completely replace”说明作者认为线上教育有局限性。

步骤4:排除A(entirely太绝对)、B(作者并未strongly oppose)、D(作者有明确态度)。

答案: C

考试技巧: 作者态度题要避免选择极端选项(entirely, strongly, completely),除非原文有明确的极端表述。高考阅读中,作者通常持平衡、客观的态度。

例题8:细节理解题——数据推理

Section titled “例题8:细节理解题——数据推理”

题目: Read the following passage and answer the question.

“According to a recent study, the average person spends approximately 4.8 hours per day on their smartphone. This figure has increased by 30% over the past five years. The study also found that 70% of screen time is spent on social media and video streaming platforms.”

If the trend continues at the same rate, approximately how many hours per day will the average person spend on their smartphone in five years’ time?

A. 5.2 hours B. 6.2 hours C. 7.0 hours D. 7.8 hours

Section titled “例题9:文章结构分析——论证方法”

题目: What argumentative method does the author primarily use in the following paragraph?

“Studies have shown that children who read for pleasure perform better academically. For instance, a survey of 10,000 students found that those who read daily scored 20% higher on standardized tests. Moreover, countries with strong reading cultures, such as Finland and Japan, consistently rank among the top performers in international education comparisons.”

A. Comparison and contrast B. Cause and effect C. Exemplification D. Problem-solution

解答:

步骤1:分析段落结构——先提出论点(reading improves academic performance),再举例论证。

步骤2:关键词”For instance”和”Moreover”表明作者在举例支持论点。

步骤3:第一个例子是调查数据,第二个例子是国家间的比较。

步骤4:这种方法是”exemplification”(举例论证)。

答案: C

考试技巧: 识别论证方法要注意信号词:for example, for instance(举例);therefore, thus(因果);on the other hand(对比);the solution is(问题解决)。

例题10:细节理解题——推理计算

Section titled “例题10:细节理解题——推理计算”

题目: Read the following passage and answer the question.

“The library has increased its opening hours from 8 hours to 12 hours per day since the new librarian took over. The number of daily visitors has risen from 200 to 350. Additionally, the library has introduced a new digital catalogue system, which has reduced the average waiting time for book retrieval from 10 minutes to 3 minutes.”

What is the percentage increase in the number of daily visitors?

A. 42.9% B. 58.3% C. 75.0% D. 175.0%

解答:

步骤1:原始读者数量:200200

步骤2:现在读者数量:350350

步骤3:增加数量:350200=150350 - 200 = 150

步骤4:百分比增长:150200×100%=75%\dfrac{150}{200} \times 100\% = 75\%

步骤5:验证:200×1.75=350200 \times 1.75 = 350(正确)

答案: C

常见错误: 百分比增长的基数是原始值,不是新值。350200200\dfrac{350 - 200}{200},不是 350200350\dfrac{350 - 200}{350}

例题11:推理判断题——隐含信息

Section titled “例题11:推理判断题——隐含信息”

题目: Read the following passage and answer the question.

“Despite the government’s efforts to promote electric vehicles, the adoption rate remains low. Many consumers cite the high upfront cost as the primary barrier. However, experts point out that the total cost of ownership over a vehicle’s lifetime is actually lower for electric cars compared to traditional vehicles.”

What can be inferred about the experts’ view?

A. Electric vehicles are cheaper to purchase than traditional vehicles B. Consumers are making irrational decisions C. The long-term savings of electric vehicles outweigh the initial cost D. The government should ban traditional vehicles

解答:

步骤1:分析原文——政府推广电动车,但采用率低,消费者认为初始成本高

步骤2:专家观点——电动车的总拥有成本实际上低于传统汽车

步骤3:推理——专家认为长期节省超过初始成本

步骤4:排除A(专家说的是总成本,不是购买价格)、B(专家没有说消费者不理性)、D(专家没有说应该禁止)

答案: C

考试技巧: 推理题要基于文中信息,不能过度推断。专家观点通常比较客观,避免极端选项。

English reading comprehension on the Gaokao is like solving a puzzle. Each question asks you to find a specific piece of information in the text, and the challenge is locating it quickly among many sentences. Skimming is like scanning the puzzle box for the right color; scanning is like looking for the specific shape of the piece you need.

Vocabulary in context is like deciphering a code. The word itself may have multiple meanings, but the surrounding sentences act as clues that narrow down which meaning fits. Think of it as a crossword puzzle: the intersecting words tell you which definition is correct.

  • English Writing - Writing skills that reinforce reading comprehension through active vocabulary use
  • Chinese Reading - Shared analytical reading strategies across languages
  • Algebra - Logical reasoning skills that support inference and deduction in reading passages

Choosing answers with absolute language. Options containing words like “all,” “never,” “always,” “only,” or “completely” are almost always wrong in reading comprehension. Authors in standard practice present balanced views, and extreme statements rarely reflect the passage accurately. Eliminate absolute options first.

Over-inferring beyond the passage content. Reading comprehension answers must be directly supported by the text. Making logical leaps or bringing in outside knowledge leads to incorrect inferences. The correct answer is always a paraphrase or restatement of information explicitly stated in the passage.

Misidentifying the question type. Main idea questions ask about the overall theme, detail questions ask about specific facts, inference questions require logical reasoning from stated facts, and vocabulary questions ask about word meaning based on context. Reading the question stem carefully determines which approach to use.
